The coast is mild, with fewer frosts than inland Wales, but it is exposed to Atlantic wind and rain. Sea temperatures peak in August and September.
Season by season
Spring (March–May)
Wildflowers on the cliffs, puffins arriving, quiet beaches. Some boat trips start at Easter.
Summer (June–August)
Warmest seas, all boats and shuttle buses running, and the busiest beaches. Book accommodation early.
Autumn (September–November)
Often settled in September. Seal pups appear in coves; boats run less often after October.
Winter (December–February)
Wild, stormy and empty. Good for bracing walks and cosy pubs; many cafés close.

Approximate long-term averages, rounded; daylight is the approximate time between sunrise and sunset mid-month. Wales is mild but wet, and the mountains are colder, windier and wetter than the coast: pack layers in every season.
